I've lost my Egypt e-Visa: what should I do?

Obtaining a visa to travel to Egypt is an essential step for any traveller. The Egyptian authorities have made this procedure easier by introducing the e-Visa, which can be obtained easily online. However, it is not uncommon to lose this important document before travelling. In this article, we'll explore the various steps you need to take to replace a lost Egyptian e-Visa and avoid problems during your stay.

Confirmation of loss of e-Visa

The first step is to make sure that the e-Visa is actually lost. Carefully check all your personal documents and emails to see if the e-Visa was scanned and sent as an attachment. If you can't find it, follow our advice below.

Contact with the authorities

If you are sure that your e-Visa has been lost, the first thing to do is to contact the application support service through which you made your request. We are able to access your file on our systems and check whether you had indeed obtained an e-Visa. Using your name and file number, we will send you your precious document by email, free of charge.

If you submitted your application via the Egyptian authorities' website, you will need to regain access to your account in order to download the document again.

Making a new application online

If you did not apply via a private service provider and you have lost your account created on the government website, you can make a new e-Visa application online. The procedure is similar to the one you followed for your first application:

  1. Access the official Egyptian government portal for e-Visa applications and create an account, or fill in our dedicated form on this site to benefit from our expertise.
  2. Fill in the online application form with all the information required, such as the type of visa you require (tourist, business, etc.), the duration of your stay and your personal details.
  3. Pay the visa application fee. Bear in mind that you will have to pay again, even if you already paid when you first applied.
  4. Wait for confirmation that your visa has been granted. This may take a few days.
  5. Once you have received the new e-Visa, print it out and keep it with your other travel documents. It's also a good idea to keep an electronic copy of this document in your e-mail inbox or on an external storage device, in case you lose the paper printout again.

Preventive measures to avoid losing your e-Visa

To avoid problems related to the loss of your e-Visa, there are several preventive measures you can take:

  • Keep digital copies : Once you have received your e-Visa by e-mail, be sure to save the attachment in a number of secure locations, such as your personal e-mail account, an external hard drive or a secure storage service.
  • Print several copies : print several copies of the e-Visa so that you can keep one in each piece of luggage or handbag used during the journey.
  • Check regularly : As a preventive measure during your stay in Egypt, check your documents regularly to make sure they are still in your possession.
  • Use a protective pouch : Keep important documents such as your e-Visa, passport and other identification in a waterproof pouch or wallet to protect them from accidents and the elements.

Losing your Egyptian e-Visa can be stressful, but the situation is manageable if you know what steps to take. By notifying the relevant authorities and obtaining a duplicate or a new e-Visa, you can continue to enjoy your stay in Egypt with peace of mind.
