Implemented since December 2017, it is now possible for nationals of more than 46 countries to apply for an e-Visa or electronic visa to travel to Egypt. French nationals can apply for an e-visa for Egypt without any problems. How do I obtain an e-visa? Are there any special documents I need to submit with my application?
Speed and efficiency: applying for an e-Visa
Applying for an e-Visa is quicker and simpler than applying for a traditional visa at an embassy. All you have to do is visit the official portal set up by the Egyptian authorities and carefully fill in the application form.
You will be asked to enter your personal details (surname, first name, profession, etc.) as well as all the information relating to your passport (don't forget to download the passport scan). You will also need to give details of your journey and your hotel or other type of accommodation on site. You will also be asked to give the dates of all your previous trips to Egypt.
If you have already applied for an e-Visa for another country and been refused, you must also indicate this on the form.
If you want help filling in the form, use a specialised agency. This is the agency that takes care of your application with the Egyptian authorities and then sends you the e-Visa. <All you have to do is print it out!
You can apply for an e-Visa for both tourist and business travel.
The electronic visa for Egypt is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. However, you may only stay in Egypt for a maximum of 30 days (within the 90-day validity period). You can obtain a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. You can expect to pay between 25,00 € and 60,00 €depending on the type of visa, plus the intermediation fee. You will receive your e-visa by e-mail, so you will need to print it out and present it on the day of your departure. Processing takes an average of a few days.
What supporting documents do I need to provide?
All French nationals wishing to visit Egypt must have a valid passport (at least 8 months after your date of arrival in the country). It is also necessary, when you apply, to upload a colour photo of your passport (no larger than 500MB).
You must also be able to provide a copy of your hotel reservation and your itinerary. You must be able to prove that you have left the country (by means of flight tickets or a transit visa if you are travelling to another country via Egypt).
If you are visiting family on site, you must present a letter of invitation from the family. If you are visiting on business, you must present a letter of invitation (from the local company, for example) when you arrive.
