Since June 2018, the Egyptian government has introduced an e-Visa or electronic visa service open to 46 countries. If you want to book your next holiday to Egypt, you should think about applying for your visa quickly. What is the procedure for obtaining an e-Visa for Egypt? How easy is it to obtain an e-Visa?
Who is eligible for an e-Visa for Egypt?
If you are a French or Belgian national and have a valid passport, then you can easily apply for an e-Visa for Egypt. Not all countries are eligible for e-Visa. You will therefore need to consult the list of eligible countries to the e-Visa for Egypt to make sure you can apply without any problems.
Conditions for obtaining an e-Visa
You can apply for an e-visa for both tourist and business purposes.. If you are travelling for any other reason, you will need to apply for a regular visa at the Egyptian embassy in your country.
To make a valid application for an e-Visa, you must have a passport valid for at least 8 months after your arrival in the country. You may be asked to prove that you have left the country (by showing your return flight tickets or a transit visa).
You may be asked to provide the itinerary for your stay or hotel reservation. If you are visiting family, you must provide a letter of invitation from the family hosting you during your stay. If you are travelling on business, you will also be asked to show a letter of invitation (from a local company, for example) when you arrive.
To be valid, the e-Visa must be printed before your departure and presented once in Egypt with your passport.
Fill in your form
As a general rule, the form is in English. However, some agencies offer it in French. If you're not sure how to fill in the form correctly, you can call on the services of a specialist agency. It will be the main intermediary between you and the Egyptian authorities and will stay in contact with you throughout the process of obtaining your e-Visa. Finally, the agency will send you your e-Visa to print out.
Visit the official portal. You must fill in your contact details, all the information about your trip and your hotel (if you are staying in a hotel). Don't forget your personal details, passport details, a list of all your previous trips to Egypt (with dates) and your job. If you have applied for an e-Visa for another country and been refused, you must specify this.
The e-Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. You can only stay in Egypt for a maximum of 30 days.. Expect to pay around 25,00 € for a single-entry visa. If you want a multiple-entry visa, you will need to pay approximately 60,00 €. You can pay directly online (or on the website of the specialist agency acting as intermediary, for a fee), using a simple credit card.
