Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was moved to the island of Aguilkia in the 1960s to protect it from the rising waters of the Nile.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The temple of Hatshepsut<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Temple of Hatshepsut is the work of the royal architect Senenmut. Situated on the banks of the Nile, this temple was built in honour of Queen Pharaoh and the god Amun. The temple offers a fabulous view of the cliffs from its three 30-metre-high terraces.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Memmon colossi<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Colossi of Memmon are what remain of the ancient temple. These two stone statues of immense size represent the pharaoh <strong>Amenhotep III <\/strong>were intended to guard the entrance to the temple before it disappeared completely.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The funerary temple of Sety I<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This temple was built in honour of Pharaoh Seti I. It remained unfinished until his death in 1279 BC, when his son Ramses, once on the throne, completed its construction. It is located in Abydos and majestically dominates the west bank of the Nile.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The temple of Sobek and Hareris<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This temple dedicated to the gods Sobek and Hareris is located on a dune overlooking the Nile. This temple, superbly built on the initiative of Ptolemy VI, has two entrances, two colonnades, two sanctuaries and two hypostyle halls.
